More than Food

baggie of personal care itemsPeople who have food insecurities, and come to food pantries, have needs in addition to food. Government subsidies do not apply to many daily needs like toilet paper, kleenex, soap, dental care items, etc. Too often these needs are overlooked when we are focused on providing food. Thank goodness for people who step up to fill this gap.

A contribution from Doug Rice in memory of his mother Cile Rice, who was a longtime Food Cupboard supporter and volunteer, made possible a gift of toiletries to every Food Cupboard guest during the month of December. According to Food Cupboard coordinator Kay Ramsay, Cile always felt it important to give toothpaste and brushes when we could get them. With additional funds from the Food Cupboard’s outreach budget, Kay and Scott Ramsay raided store shelves to purchase all the supplies. They prepared 175 bags, each containing shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, Kleenex, shaving cream and razor or liquid hand soap. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of our neighbors!

Your donation of money or supplies could make a big difference. Please give prayerful consideration to how you can help.
